Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Unveils Groundbreaking Agriculture Graduate Internship Initiative. Setting a new milestone in Pakistan’s agricultural development, Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has launched a program for the agriculture sector that will prove to be a boon not only for the farmers of Punjab but also for the entire Pakistan. This program will known as the Agriculture Graduate Internship, the biggest agriculture graduate internship program in Pakistan’s history. The program aims to bring young agriculture graduates into the field to guide farmers so that they are aware of modern agricultural methods and technology.

The Chief Minister is busy guiding farmers in the field of agriculture graduates across Punjab. Under this program, young agriculture graduates will also get a monthly scholarship of Rs 60,000. Agricultural inputs worth more than Rs 30 billion will purchased through the Punjab Kisan Card. DAP and other fertilizers will be available at fixed rates for the first time in Punjab. 5,000 tractors have arrived under the Green Tractors Program, out of which 2,500 tractors have received by farmers. The Chief Minister will provide a subsidy of Rs 1 million per tractor under the Green Tractors Program. Approval has also given to build a model agriculture mall in each district. Launch of the program and its objective

Inaugurating the program, Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz said that in the past, only slogans raised for farmers, but the PML-N government has always taken practical steps. The Chief Minister added that her government is working for the prosperity of farmers and an increase in agricultural production. Through this program, not only will farmers made aware of modern methods, but agriculture graduates will also provided with a monthly scholarship of  60,000. This internship program provides a wonderful opportunity for agriculture graduates, in which they can test their knowledge in the practical field under the guidance of farmers. Along with this, this program will expose farmers to modern agricultural technology, which will not only increase crop production but also improve the quality of agricultural produce.

Kisan Card and Green Tractors Program

Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has also taken several other historic steps for farmers, which will have a profound impact on the agricultural sector. For the convenience of farmers, the Kisan Card has introduced in Punjab, through which agricultural inputs worth more than Rs. 30 billion can purchased. Through the Kisan Card, farmers will get the benefit of facilities and subsidies provided by the government. The Chief Minister has also launched the “Green Tractors Program”, under which 5,000 modern tractors will be provided. Subsidies will given to these tractors so that farmers can get access to modern agricultural machinery. Under this program, farmers will get a subsidy of up to Rs. 1 million on each tractor, which is a big facility.

Steps to increase agricultural production

Various steps are being taken to increase agricultural production in Punjab. The Chief Minister of Punjab also informed that a 99 percent target of wheat cultivation has achieved in Punjab. In addition, model agriculture malls are established across Punjab. Which aims to provide farmers with modern machinery, fertilizers, seeds, pesticides, and other agricultural equipment. Farmers will also trained in these model agriculture malls so that they can be aware of modern agricultural methods.

Provision of Agricultural inputs and machinery services

The Punjab government has taken several steps to improve the provision of agricultural inputs. The Chief Minister confirmed that ample availability of DAP and other fertilizers will ensured in Punjab. In addition, it has also decided to provide rental services of agricultural machinery to farmers so that farmers can easily access modern machinery.

Solar energy and rehabilitation of quinoa gardens

The Chief Minister of Punjab has also announced that 8,000 agricultural tube wells will converted to solar energy for Rs 9 billion, which will meet the energy needs of farmers and reduce their expenses. In addition, a project will launched for Rs 1.5 billion for the rehabilitation of quinoa gardens in Punjab, which will not only increase agricultural production but also generate additional income for farmers.

Provision of easy loans for farmers

The Chief Minister has taken a principle decision to establish “Punjab Kisan Bank” to provide easy loans to farmers in Punjab. Through this bank, farmers will be provided loans at low interest rates so that they can improve their agricultural activities and purchase new agricultural equipment.
