The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has taken a major step to promote girl child education in the merged tribal districts by launching a monthly Stipend program for female students. Under this program, a monthly stipend of Rs 1000. The project is organized with the support of the World Food Programme, with the aim of ensuring the educational motivation of girls.

Provincial Minister of Elementary and Secondary Education Faisal Tarkai said that these scholarships will be provided to 30,000 female students of 514 schools in 8 districts of the merged districts. The aim of this program is to ensure the educational attendance of girls, therefore under it a condition of at least 70% attendance has been set for girl students.

Turkai added that this initiative will not only increase the enrollment rate of girls in school but also significantly reduce the dropout rate.
